The Mavic series has model-specific wear points that generic "used drone checklists" miss. These are the three we weight hardest:
3,850mAh packs rated ~31 minutes, and every surviving pack is now 6+ years old. Calendar aging is the decisive factor — our capacity bench test, not the cycle count, determines whether a Mavic 2 Pro makes the catalog. Full methodology on the battery health page.
A new DJI Mavic 2 Pro lists at $1,599. An Excellent-grade used unit at $549 saves you $1,050 — enough for two spare batteries and a year of accessories — while delivering identical flight performance. For stills on a tight budget, yes — the Hasselblad-tuned one-inch sensor remains excellent. Budget for fresh batteries and accept that firmware support has ended. Video shooters should look at a used Air 2S or Air 3 instead.
$500–650 for the airframe with tested-healthy batteries. Be very suspicious of cheaper units — replacement batteries run $120+ each, and an untested 'cheap' Mavic 2 Pro is often the expensive kind.
Air 2S for most buyers (newer batteries, 5.4K video, ADS-B). Mavic 2 Pro if you specifically love its Hasselblad color science and adjustable aperture — it's a connoisseur's choice at this point.
